Description

Salted Caramel Banana Bread offers a delightful twist on classic banana bread. This recipe elevates your baking, combining the comforting warmth of traditional banana bread with a sweet and salty caramel swirl.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 23 medium bananas)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan for your homemade salted caramel banana bread.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. This is the dry mixture for your moist salted caramel banana bread.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Add the mashed ripe bananas and sour cream (or yogurt) to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix the salted caramel banana bread batter.
  7. Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan. Drizzle about 1/4 cup of the salted caramel sauce over the batter, then swirl it gently with a knife.
  8. Pour the remaining banana bread batter over the caramel layer. Drizzle the remaining 1/4 cup of salted caramel sauce on top and swirl again for a beautiful banana bread with caramel swirl.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center of the salted caramel banana bread comes out clean.
  10. Let the salted caramel banana bread loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. For an extra treat, consider a salted caramel banana bread with cream cheese frosting or a banana bread salted caramel topping. Enjoy this sweet and salty banana bread!

Notes

  • Ensure your bananas are very ripe for the best flavor and sweetness in your homemade salted caramel banana bread.
  • Do not overmix the batter; overmixing can lead to a tough loaf.
  • Store leftover salted caramel banana bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • This recipe can also be adapted for salted caramel banana bread muffins; adjust baking time accordingly.
  • For a richer flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dry ingredients for your best salted caramel banana bread.
