Description

Shrimp and Mussels in Creamy Garlic Sauce is a delightful seafood dish that combines tender shrimp and mussels in a rich and flavorful garlic cream sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound mussels, cleaned and debearded
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Fresh crusty bread (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Clean and devein the shrimp and mussels. Mince the garlic and chop the parsley.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until it’s bubbly.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Pour in the dry white wine and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the alcohol to cook off.
  5. Introduce the shrimp and mussels into the skillet. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Cover the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mussels open and the shrimp are pink.
  6. Once the seafood is cooked, reduce the heat and pour in the heavy cream. Stir until well combined and simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
  7. Drizzle the lemon juice over the dish, mixing well. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
  8. Remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped parsley and optional red pepper flakes for some added heat.
  9. Serve the dish warm with fresh crusty bread to soak up the creamy sauce.

Notes

  • Ensure the mussels are fresh and discard any that do not open during cooking.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic and seasoning based on your preference.
  • This dish pairs well with a side salad or steamed vegetables.
