  • 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, Gala, or Granny Smith)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or melted coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (or coconut sugar)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • For Optional Cream Cheese Glaze:
  • 2 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp milk (or cream)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel, and core the apples. Then, slice them into uniform sticks, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick and 3-4 inches long. Gently pat the apple slices dry with a towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar (or coconut sugar), ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  3. In a separate large bowl, drizzle the olive oil (or melted coconut oil) over the dried apple sticks. Toss gently until each piece is lightly and evenly coated with oil.
  4. Sprinkle the dry spice and flour mixture over the oiled apples. Toss and mix thoroughly until every apple stick is evenly coated with a thin layer of the mixture.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Arrange the coated apple fries in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd it. Cook in batches if necessary for optimal crispiness.
  7. Air fry for 10-15 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously every 4-5 minutes, until the apple fries are tender on the inside, golden brown, and wonderfully crispy. If needed, cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to reach peak crispiness.
  8. For the optional cream cheese glaze: In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk (or cream), and vanilla extract. Whisk until completely smooth and drizzly. Adjust consistency with a touch more milk or powdered sugar if needed.
  9. Serve the Crispy Air Fryer Apple Fries immediately, piping hot, drizzled with the optional cream cheese glaze or served on the side for dipping. Garnish as desired.
