Description

Apple Pie Tacos combine the classic taste of apple pie with a crunchy taco shell. Enjoy warm spiced apples in a delightful handheld dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 small flour tortillas (4.5-inch street taco size)
  • ⅓ cup salted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup finely crushed vanilla wafer crumbs (or graham cracker crumbs)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (or apple pie spice)
  • 20 oz canned apple pie filling (or fresh sautéed apples)
  • ¼ cup heavy cream (or full-fat coconut milk for dairy-free)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • Caramel sauce (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1-1.5 inches of neutral frying oil in a heavy-bottomed pan to 350-365°F (175-185°C). Briefly warm tortillas to make them pliable. Fry tortillas one at a time, flat for 10-15 seconds, then fold with tongs into a taco shape. Continue frying until golden and crispy (30-60 seconds per side). Drain immediately on paper towels and let cool.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine ¾ cup crushed vanilla wafer crumbs and 1 tsp cinnamon. Stir well.
  3. Gently warm the 20 oz canned apple pie filling in a saucepan or microwave until heated through. If desired, stir in ¼ cup heavy cream for added richness.
  4. Fill each cooled, crispy taco shell with the warm apple pie filling. Lightly brush the outside edges and top rim of each filled taco with some of the ⅓ cup melted butter. Immediately dip and roll the buttered edges into the cinnamon-crumb mixture to coat thoroughly.
  5. Serve Apple Pie Tacos immediately while shells are crisp. Optionally, top with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
