Description

Classic Shrimp Scampi with Lemon and Garlic: An Incredible 7-Step Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine (or chicken broth)
  • 1 lemon, juiced and zested
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked spaghetti or linguine (optional)
  • Lemon wedges for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by rinsing the shrimp under cold water. Pat them dry with a paper towel and season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat until melted and bubbling.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning. The garlic should become fragrant, but not browned.
  4. Place the seasoned shrimp in the pan in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes, turning them halfway through, until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
  5. Pour in the white wine (or chicken broth) and add the red pepper flakes. Stir well, scraping up any bits stuck to the pan. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes.
  6. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet, mixing until melted and well combined with the wine sauce. Stir in the lemon juice and zest.
  7. Remove the skillet from heat, stir in the chopped parsley, and taste for seasoning, adjusting with salt and pepper if needed. Serve over cooked pasta if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust red pepper flakes for desired heat.
  • Use fresh lemon for best flavor.
  • Pair with a crisp white wine.
