Description
Classic Shrimp Scampi with Lemon and Garlic: An Incredible 7-Step Recipe
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 cup dry white wine (or chicken broth)
- 1 lemon, juiced and zested
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked spaghetti or linguine (optional)
- Lemon wedges for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Start by rinsing the shrimp under cold water. Pat them dry with a paper towel and season with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat until melted and bubbling.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning. The garlic should become fragrant, but not browned.
- Place the seasoned shrimp in the pan in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes, turning them halfway through, until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
- Pour in the white wine (or chicken broth) and add the red pepper flakes. Stir well, scraping up any bits stuck to the pan. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes.
- Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet, mixing until melted and well combined with the wine sauce. Stir in the lemon juice and zest.
- Remove the skillet from heat, stir in the chopped parsley, and taste for seasoning, adjusting with salt and pepper if needed. Serve over cooked pasta if desired.
Notes
- Adjust red pepper flakes for desired heat.
- Use fresh lemon for best flavor.
- Pair with a crisp white wine.
