Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix buttermilk, sugar, egg, melted butter, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until smooth.
  4. Gently fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  5. Pipe batter into the donut pan about three-quarters full.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow cooling before transferring to a wire rack.
