Description
A comforting Apple Butter Pie with a smooth, custardy filling baked in a spelt crust, seasoned with warm spices. A perfect dessert for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (9-inch) spelt pie crust
- 1 ¾ cups (470g / 17oz) apple butter
- 1 cup (226g) heavy cream
- 3 eggs
- ½ cup (110g) brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- ¼ tsp salt
- Pinch ground cloves
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Position a rack in the lower third of the oven.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the apple butter, heavy cream, eggs, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and cloves until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Pour the prepared filling evenly into the 9-inch spelt pie crust.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the center of the pie is set and a knife inserted near the edge comes out clean. The top should be lightly golden.
- Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack for at least 2-3 hours before slicing and serving. This allows the filling to set properly.
