- 3 cups bread flour
- 1 tsp coarse sea salt
- ¼ cup baking soda
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast; let it sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
- In another bowl, mix bread flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in an oiled bowl covered with a cloth for about an hour.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and prepare baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
- Punch down the risen dough, divide it into small pieces (about 1 inch), shape them into pretzel knots.
- Boil water with baking soda; cook each pretzel bite for about 30 seconds before placing them on the baking sheet. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sea salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
