Description

Transform classic deviled eggs into charming, edible Christmas tree shapes. This festive holiday appetizer features a savory spinach and garlic yolk filling, piped into a tree design and adorned with colorful ‘ornaments’ for a delightful visual and flavorful experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 7 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, sliced thin
  • 5 oz baby spinach
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dehydrated potato flakes
  • 1 red fresno chili pepper, minced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into small stars
  • Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Hard-boil 7 eggs. Cool immediately in an ice bath, then carefully peel. Slice each egg lengthwise, scoop out yolks into a bowl, and arrange whites on a serving platter.
  2. Mash the cooked yolks thoroughly until smooth.
  3. In a small pan, melt butter and sauté sliced garlic until fragrant. Add baby spinach and cook until wilted; drain any excess liquid.
  4. To the mashed yolks, add mayonnaise, mustard, lemon juice, smoked paprika, hot sauce, dehydrated potato flakes, and the cooked spinach-garlic mixture. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated and the mixture is creamy.
  5. Transfer the yolk filling to a piping bag fitted with a star tip (e.g., Wilton 1M). Pipe the filling onto each egg white half, building small, conical ‘Christmas tree’ shapes.
  6. Decorate the piped trees with yellow bell pepper stars, minced red fresno chili pieces for ‘ornaments’, and a light sprinkle of Parmesan cheese for ‘snow.’
  7. Serve the Deviled Egg Christmas Trees immediately, or refrigerate in an airtight container until ready to serve.
